 The Don Havlicek Memorial Scholarship

About Don Havlicek

This scholarship was created in honour of our founder, the man who brought the Czech Frosty to the United States, Don Havlicek.  Don sadly passed away suddenly while vacationing with family.

Don was born in Schenectady, New York, and attended the University of Cincinnati where he studied for his undergraduate and Master's degrees, and even made it to the Olympic Trials in 1960 for the 110-high hurdles event.  Don was an educator and coach at many schools, and spent 18 years as a teacher in Connersville, Indiana.  But his passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom, and into the rabbit barn, where he was a mentor, breeder, educator, and ARBA judge.

Don never hesitated to share both life and rabbit advice and knowledge, and had never met a stranger in his life.  He is sorely missed by friends, family, and the rabbit world as a whole.  We hope that this scholarship will keep his legacy alive, and provide opportunities to Czech Frosty breeders to continue to spread the love for this beautiful breed.
